September 15 – Opportunities for Change
Since 1927, Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre has offered educational programs and services to the community of Little Burgundy in Montreal. Amidst poverty and social marginalization, Tyndale St-Georges is a place where grace is at work – bringing opportunities and new growth. It promotes early literacy, school readiness, academic and social development for children and youth, as well as pre-employment training for adults. Last year nearly 300 volunteers gathered to rebuild the Jesse Maxwell Smith Park in front of the centre. Already, the once seldom-used playground is full of families. Gifts to Presbyterians Sharing are helping to bring hope and change in the Little Burgundy community.
Congregational Meeting – The Session has called a congregational meeting for Sunday September 15 immediately following the service, to seek congregational approval for the Roof Committee’s plan to have the church roof replaced with a steel roof, at a cost of $28,500 plus tax, and to apply for a loan from the national church’s Lending Fund, as well as a grant from the national church’s Chisholm Fund. A written notice of the meeting is being sent out to the congregation, to ensure that everyone knows about it.
